A funny family memoir by Julia Roberts

with Adam Phillips, Sophie, Lucy and Freddy

When Julia Roberts faced her first summer home alone with the kids, she was a little scared.  She was recently unemployed with no prospects. No money, no babysitter, no pool membership... no big idea for how the summer would go.  When a working mom dreams of spending more time with her kids, this is not what she envisions.  A frustrating summer with three bored kids.  Sophie was 12, Lucy was 9 and Freddy was 6.

So, she came up with a novel solution... why not take them on a cross-country trip in an RV?  Never mind that her husband, Adam, can't come!  So what if all they can afford is a 1985 Ford Coachman they find on Ebay?  What could possibly go wrong?

While Adam stayed home, worked and worried, the rest of them headed west for weird, wild adventures in an ancient RV they nicknamed Harvey the RV.

They all keep journals.  The result is a funny family romp, in five voices, through 24 states, 17 vehicles, and 26 national parks, not to mention mudslides, monsoons, breakdowns - mental and mechanical - and a lovely suburban family stuck hitchhiking in the desert.

You'll laugh, you'll sigh, you'll live out this ultimate American dream... come cross-country with us!
